Welding exposes you to metal fume — chromium, manganese, nickel, cadmium — with every arc strike. Respirators help. Ventilation helps. But decades of trade work accumulate a body burden that PPE alone does not reverse.
Why This Matters for Welders
Metal fume fever is the acute version. The chronic version is quieter: brain fog that creeps in over years, joint stiffness that seems early for your age, fatigue that sleep does not fix. These are not "getting old" — they are what accumulated heavy metal burden looks like when biology cannot clear it fast enough.
Manganese exposure from MIG and flux-core welding is particularly documented for neurological effects. Chromium VI from stainless steel welding is a known carcinogen. The body has elimination pathways for these metals, but they run slow — slower than daily exposure adds.
A Simple Routine That Fits
- Morning (before shift): 1/8 tsp fulvic acid in water on an empty stomach. This is the delivery layer — supporting mineral transport and cellular function for the day ahead.
- Evening (after shift, 2+ hours after dinner): 1/8 tsp humic acid in water. This is the binding layer — large-molecule chelation support for whatever crossed your respiratory barrier that day.
- Hydration: welders sweat and lose minerals. Adequate water intake makes both molecules work better.
What to Track
Over 2–4 weeks: mental clarity, joint stiffness, recovery from long shifts, sleep quality, and general energy. These are not diagnostic — but they are the markers welders most commonly report movement on.
