The weakness: ingredients compete for absorption, doses are often subtherapeutic, and the minerals present are typically in oxide or carbonate forms with poor bioavailability.
What Trace Minerals Are
Trace minerals (zinc, selenium, chromium, molybdenum, manganese, copper, iron, iodine, and others) are elements the body needs in small amounts but cannot manufacture. Modern soils have been depleted of them through industrial farming, meaning even a "good diet" may not deliver what it did 100 years ago.
The Delivery Problem
Both multivitamins and standalone mineral pills face the same challenge: crossing the gut barrier.
